An Early Look: Duke 2024-2025
Jon Scheyer has done an incredible job recruiting for this upcoming season. Here is a first look at what to expect.
High School Talent
As said above, Jon Scheyer has achieved one of the best recruiting classes in Duke history. Cooper Flagg, a 5 star SF out of Montverde Academy is supposedly “generational talent”, and is highlighting this upcoming class. Along with Flagg, Duke has locked in Center Khaman Maluach, out of South Africa, and Isaiah Evans, out of Charlotte, NC. DFZ had the chance to meet and talk to Evans, if you’d like more from that conversation, let us know in the comments. Kon Knueppel, out of Wisconsin is nationally ranked #17 for this year’s class, and is #5 for his position at SF. Also coming this year is two teammates out of a Virginia school, Patrick Ngongba III, and Darren Harris. They both have played with each other all of high school, which should lead to good chemistry.
2. Experienced Transfers
Duke is receiving 4 experienced transfers, highlighted by four stars, Maliq Brown from Syracuse, Sion James from Tulane, and Mason Gills from Purdue. Also coming to the Blue Devils is 3 star from Rice, Cameron Sheffield. These players should help bring more experience to this year’s roster.
3. Returning Veterans
Coming back this year includes stars like Tyrese Procter and Caleb Foster. Also returning is Neal Begovich, Stanley Bordan, and Spencer Hubbard! Procter and Foster should help bring experienced talent to Duke, that knows Scheyer’s system well.
Duke is set for success for this upcoming season, and is looking a lot more mentally tough than last years roster. Stay tuned for more Duke news!
