Duke vs UNC: Final 4 edition
It is official. Duke will be playing North Carolina... In the tournament.
Most Duke fans would say this is the most important Duke game ever. North Carolina fans would say the same. This article will be diving in on why, and how it became to get this way. You're about to read a kid's perspective on all of this craziness happening.
First off: How did we get here?
It took a lot for both teams to make it here. In the Round of 64, Duke beat CS Fullerton, and UNC shined against Marquette. In the Round of 32, UNC had a tough matchup in (1) Baylor, and it looked like North Carolina was going to win by a lot, but they gave up a 25 point lead, yet found a way to win in OT. Meanwhile, Duke played Michigan State next. MSU scared us for a bit, but we still won. In the Sweet 16, UNC survived a scare from (5) UCLA, but won by a fair margin. Duke played a tough Texas Tech team, but won by 7. In the Elite 8, Duke played very "elite" against Arkansas, and North Carolina survived a hot (15) Saint Peter's team... they won by 20.
Ok, but who thought that both these teams would be meeting in the Final 4?
The answer is practically nobody. Most people had UNC losing to Baylor in Round 2.
But how is this the most important game ever?
Many reasons. First, this is the first time Duke has ever played UNC in the NCAA Tournament. And that's not all... it's the Final 4. This is also Coach K's last (hopefully) 2 games. And having UNC play us in potentially (but hopefully not) Coach K's final game is crazy.
