Despite being ahead by 10 points in the second half, Duke struggled in the end to capitalize on the opportunities, resulting in a 77-72 Kentucky win. Duke moves to 2-1 on the season, while Kentucky advances to 3-0. Here are some key takeaways from Tuesday night’s game.
Duke did not start off well from three - both on defense and offense. Kentucky started 5-5 from behind the arc, and Duke started 1-11, resulting in a 6 point lead for UK early.
Duke rebounded well, but did not capitalize for second chance points - with 45 rebounds and 12 of them offensive rebounds, Duke only had 10 second chance points. This was a DFZ key to the game, which Duke failed to do.
Cramping again - for Khaman this time. Flagg didn’t leave the game from cramping, though Khaman Maluach was cramping, and had to leave the game at one point.
Duke played good D on Brea. Koby Brea only had 8 points, which was much better than his average of 17 PPG prior to this game.
Duke led the game 28 out of 40 minutes - goes to show this game was very winnable.
